From the family man we know Jack Gunn as when we first meet him in the Tocabaga series, we are introduced to the earlier years of Jack Gunn, where try as he might not to become an assassin for hire. He fights a moral battle where the lines between legal and illegal, moral and immoral become one.
So to understand why Geisha Girls, Yakuza and Sex help blur the lines, you need to read The Finger Collector. Thomas Ward has hit a home run with this one.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading "The Finger Collector - Blood Money" written by Thomas H. Ward. Set within the Japanese criminal underworld, it's an action packed, violent thriller that is exciting, entertaining and keeps you turning the pages until it's finished. Being quite a short book you can easily finish this in one sitting enabling you to get the full impact of this suspenseful story mixed with romance, mystery and murder!
Jack Gunn the main protagonist is an already established character in the author's "Tocabaga" series that I haven't yet read, but this book can easily be read as a standalone as there is enough information at the start of the book to bring you up to date. Happily for me there was a list of characters at the back of the book too, as I often forget who is who in stories. I like Jack, he's a man's man who knows how to stay alive in very dangerous situations and I enjoyed how it was written in the first person as you get to read his thoughts first hand.
There isn't a complicated plot to the book, it's easy to follow, well thought out and written - you will be really surprised as to who the actual 'Finger Collector' is! It's also quite a violent book with guts and gore a plenty so not for the faint hearted.
The author has obviously incorporated an awful lot of his own experience of his knowledge and travels to Japan in his book and I thought the inclusion of a lot of Japanese explanations was very informative and clever. He has obviously carried out a lot of research into weapons and ammunition too.
Thomas Ward is a hugely intelligent man as well as a very talented and imaginative author. I would love to read a sequel to this book as the story does finish with the premise of more to come. A very striking cover to the paperback will certainly draw you in and I would highly recommend this book to readers of action packed thrillers.

I have never read any of his books.. But hoping to get to it shortly.. Will update..
This book is well written, characters developed well. The story has a lot of action but, not over the top make believe stuff. As a reader I found that I could imagine this story as something that could happen in real life. I could not predict what was coming up next. The main character Jack Gunn has been around in other stores by the author Mr. Ward. Although Jack Gunn has faults as in not being prefect, he seems to try to do the right thing and can be looked at as a hero. The story has some background information in the beginning to help understand how the story got to where it is at for this book. But, it can be read without reading all the other Jack Gunn books and enjoyed. The ending is good but, the story is not finished. I cannot wait for the next book.
